Itchy!

We have been back home now for almost 2 months and I have the worst case of traveller's itch! Not any type of horrible rash from a lake or anything like that, simply a need to get on a plane and go somewhere. I'm sure the weather doesn't help - we've been hit with horribly early snow and frigid temperatures. We went from a crazy hot September to full blown winter with not even a whiff of fall. Fall is my favourite season... crunchy yellow leaves, the smell of a firepit, walking in jeans and a sweater with soft fall sunshine keeping you warm.... Nope. It's Thanksgiving weekend and we have been doing that strange little hopping run with a high pitched squeal while running towards the vehicle everytime we venture outside.

So, to combat my restlessness I have spent the last hour on the internet searching out vacation destinations - particularily Amsterdam apartment rentals. We had so much fun with the family this summer and we had a delightful Dutch evening last night with 2 of my father-in-law's brothers who were in town visiting. A full on Dutch meal was served capped off with so much drop (black, Dutch licorice) that I thought I might explode! My niece Sarah was so cute screaming out lekker, lekker! while happily eating everything. (Lekker means 'yummy' in Dutch). I'm so happy and grateful to have been exposed to such a different culture from the one which I was raised in.

So, where will the next adventure be? We have enough airmiles for the entire family to go to Europe right now if we wanted, which of course doesn't help me with my itch! I love airmiles. So I'm off now to do more dreaming.... The Greek Isles, Northern Italy, Spain, Portugal, Ireland...
