Banff getaway

We had the opportunity last weekend to spend some time in Banff so we quickly jumped on it! Jeff had a conference that in the past he has just driven up to for the day, but considering the fact that our children had never actually been to Banff before we thought it would be a great chance to be a tourist in our own 'backyard'.
Before we went I told the girls that people travel from all over the world to visit Banff - to which Chloƫ replied, "Why? It's only an hour away!".
The conference was at the Rimrock Hotel - our favourite one in Banff. The girls swam 4 times in 48 hours and now have the dry skin to prove it! We went up the gondola which was a first for all of us, and we were not prepared for the weather at the top! Brr!! It was snowy and -5C at the bottom but felt like -25C at the top, and very windy. It was funny driving back to Calgary afterwards and seeing the bare, dry ground, sunny skies and mild temperatures. Quite the change with only an hour's drive.
It's amazing how such a small weekend getaway can feel like a true vacation. We ate eggs benedict in our pj's and didn't have to make our beds... true bliss. On a side note I discovered that Chloƫ sleep talks which was quite humourous - especially the first night when it woke up Julia and they started having a conversation that didn't make any sense. The second night when she started I just called out to her that she was sleeping and she stopped right away - peaceful slumber for all.
Fun!

  1. OK, so it's been a while since I checked on here. Didn't know you were still blogging. But then, with all the traveling you do you might as well.

I'm only commenting on here to state my shock in the fact that that was your kids first trip to Banff. Wow, it's amazing how something can be so close, yet one never goes there.

That said, I guess it's been almost 2 years since we were last there, time to plan another trip with the kids.
