Less than 3 months to go! I just re-read my last posting from January and can't believe how much time has passed since I wrote that. We have finalized almost all of our Spain trip and I have just recently allowed myself to start getting excited again... I had to stop thinking about it for awhile because it was so far away and too much anticipation can get annoying!
We booked our tickets with avion points and will be away from Aug. 10-29th. Hopefully this Icelandic volcano spews in the other direction when we're flying over there because with a stopover in Heathrow we need some clear air! We arrive in Barcelona where we'll stay for 3 nights, then rent a car and travel NE along the Mediterranean coast where we've rented a duplex (with a private pool!) for a week in a small town called Begur. We'll then take the train north to San Sebastian for 5 nights and we're so excited to go to Basque country and compare the Mediterranean coast to the Atlantic coast. Then we'll end with 4 nights in Madrid, and I'm so happy to say that I found totally amazing apartments in all 4 locations and the prices were unbelievably affordable. The euro has taken a huge hit (good for us, bad for them!) and tourism is down due to the economy so there are smokin' deals everywhere. We have 3 bedroom apartments for less than the cost of a hotel room! The exchange rate is phenomenal so we are even more excited to eat and drink our way through Spain!
For now I'll continue to dream of the Mediterranean but I really can't complain about waiting because in a week we're off to L.A... Christin (Jeff's sister) graduates from AFI (American Film Institute) and we are all going down to celebrate. Of course we're taking a stop (or two!) to Disneyland and we're really looking forward to it.
