This has been a strange summer... the weather has been all over the place and I regret my decision to not strongly 'encourage' some day camps for the kids as we are all going a bit cuckoo. The trip is pretty much fully figured out and the only things left are to pack, print off a few google maps and add a couple of new movies onto the iPods. All things I'm saving to do in the last few days so that we don't go nuts with anticipation!
The rental car (for the week we drive NE of Barcelona) has been reserved and the credit card company was so helpful and friendly in letting me know exactly what our card did and did not cover. We had 15 days overseas medical insurance automatically for booking the flights with our Visa (and I was happy to find out it didn't matter that we'd used our points instead of dollars) so for a mere $52 for the entire family it was bumped up to 20 days to cover the trip. Good to have, but is one of those things you pay for and hope to never use!
What to squeeze into our little carry-ons has been figured out for pretty much the whole family except for myself. I was laying in bed last night and realized that I was so focused on everyone else that I'd sort of forgotten about what I was going to wear! So far I have two summer dresses set aside and that's it... more thought will need to go into that next week. But, happily enough, we all have shoes that we are pleased with and that are comfortable so that is one big check off of the list!
So now the waiting game continues, while trying not to remember that we're waiting. We are all really looking forward to the trip and I even went onto the British Airways site last night to look and see what in-flight movies will be playing. Amazing what the internet has done for information gathering, I honestly can't imagine going back to the 'olden days' of actually phoning someone or *gasp* simpling waiting to see what things will look like! And encyclopedias??? With the speed that things change you'd have to buy a new set every 6 months - forget about investing in a set for Junior's future - if you had done that you'd still think there was a wall across Berlin and would be talking about Burma while making all the Myanmarese (Myanmarians?) irritated!
Enough for now... I'm off to wander aimlessly around my house waiting for August 10th.
Can't wait!
