Today was all about horses... those beautiful creatures that cause me to sniff and sneeze. The kids have been absolutely itching to go on a horse and carriage ride here in Bruges and today was the day! My mom offered to go with them which was fabulous because I cannot be downwind of a horse for more than 12 seconds before sneezing. Jeff and I sat and had lunch while mom and the girls went on the ride, but we made one fatal error... we sat on the terrace of a restaurant overlooking where the horses came in and out - so for the last 6 hours I have been sneezing almost nonstop. Once I get that horse tickle in my nose it is almost impossible to get rid of! Haaaaachooooo! The kids loved their ride through the town and thankfully it was only Jeff and I affected by the horses. (He was so nice to get sympathy allergies with me!)
We contemplated the beer factory tour but I was exhausted (sneezing is a real workout!) so my mom took the girls to the chocolate factory and Jeff and I headed back for a nap. I must've been tired because I barely remember laying down - and when I woke up the sneezing has seriously decreased. Phew. Oh, and I finally indulged in a waffle... oh wow was it ever good. I meant to take a picture but that would've involved actually setting the waffle down to pick up my camera and once I took the first bite I couldn't stop. It was warm and made the whip cream drip everywhere... absolute heaven! I may have to take one for the team and get another one just to take a picture. (And then I wouldn't want it to go to waste so I'd eat it. Maybe get a nutella one next time?)
We had considered making today a beach day as the weather forecast called for hot temperatures but although it was nice and warm it was quite cloudy and not really beach weather. The beach air probably would've been good for my nose in retrospect... but now we're planning for the beach on Friday. Hopefully the weather cooperates with our plan!
Now we are just hanging out before dinner (where we will eat far away from the horses!) I must apologize for yesterday's rant about the plumbers... when reading it over today I see that it came off a little harsher than I meant. Not to say that it wasn't irritating... but it's all fixed now and the world is good.
Tot ziens!
