I am doing a second post on the same day to make up for the lack of one yesterday. I hope to add some pictures tomorrow if time allows. We have found an internet cafe that has wi-fi - most of them make you use their own computers which makes it difficult to add pictures! My descriptions will have to do for now....
We woke up to overcast skies and thought it would rain... no rain materialized and it ended up getting very hot and very sunny! We plan for a beach day tomorrow and after leaving this cafe we will head out to get some provisions - we'll be having a beach party (as the kids call it)!
We ended up walking the entire length of the beaches today - it took about an hour and a half and it was very beautiful. What gorgeous beaches they have, it definitely rivals the Mediterranean coast! We went up a very cool funicular to the top of a mountain where they have old rides (not old as decrepit, but old as in 1940's style) and rode on some 'bumper whales'. The views up there were phenomenal! There is a really nice hotel up there too where we 'pretended' to be guests and snooped around a little... had a drink in the bar and then went poolside. We soooo wanted to jump in the pool but without suits (or a room key!) we had to make due with just a look. Chloe said she'll come back for her honeymoon... but she also wants to go back to both Begur and Cassis (France) so it looks like her future husband is in for quite the trip when the time comes!
We have yet to try all the tapas we've seen - we've read that this city has the highest concentration of bars in the world and I can believe it! Every two steps there is another one with the counter filled with delightful looking tapas. We plan on trying some in about 15 minutes! This morning the street was being hosed off (good idea as it was fairly gross) after a very late night street party. We saw people walking around with glasses and real plates and cutlery so I'm not really sure how that works... I guess we'll find out! Oh, and another side note, we had absolutely amazing croissants this morning... the kids had ones filled with nutella, I had one filled with apples and cream and topped with toasted almonds, and Jeff had some 'plain' ones (which of course are anything but plain to a croissant expert!).
I think I'll finish this off simply because the kids are on the computer next to me feeding their Webkinz pets while Jeff and I toodle around on the internet. They are getting a little antsy and I hear tapas calling! I am finding this internet cafe much less pleasing than the bar we used in Begur! So, toodles for now...
